High-Rise Synagogue
  • Architect of Record: RG Roesch Architecture and Landscape Architecture
  • Project Architect: David Matero
  • Builder: Calleo Construction

A concrete block and precast concrete paneled structure, this 25’ wide x seven story synagogue houses a 220-seat sanctuary, social hall, library, kitchen, offices and two-levels of classrooms on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The front elevation has a quiet and serene palette of materials that includes Deer Isle granite and Valders Gray limestone. A two-story custom designed stainless steel curtain wall with patterned “ricepaper” glass expresses the volume of the sanctuary.
The interior mimics the quietness of the exterior with glass bead blast stainless steel and honed limestone. The wood is Beech and Anagray.
